Releases

What's new in WiFi Buddy.

Every WiFi Buddy release at a glance. We'll keep this page up-to-date with what shipped, what improved, and what was fixed in each version.

  1. Version

    1.11

Simpler pricing and a friendlier Klaus chat.

    What's new

    • WiFi Buddy Pro is now a single, simple plan: $9.99/year with a 3-day free trial. No more monthly/yearly toggle, no “best deal” math — just one tap to unlock everything.

    Fixes

    • Klaus chat: the keyboard now dismisses when you tap on the conversation, drag the messages down, or finish sending a question — no more being trapped in the chat with the keyboard up.
  2. Version

    1.1

Klaus gets his own tab and starts reading your real network.

    What's new

    • Klaus is now a top-level tab. The Wi-Fi assistant gets first-class billing — tap any time and ask anything about your home Wi-Fi.
    • Klaus reads your live network. Ask “what’s my ping?”, “how was my last survey?”, or “how many devices are on my Wi-Fi?” and Klaus weaves your real numbers into the answer. Still 100% offline — no LLM, no servers, no accounts.
    • 100-topic knowledge base spanning coverage, dead zones, security, gaming, streaming, work-from-home, travel, moving day, kid bedtime controls, mesh-vs-extender, router buying advice, myth-busting, and “what does this tab do?” — all in plain English.
    • Klaus signs every report. Speed-test summaries, survey insights, and the device-discovery security report are now in his voice (“Beep boop — your connection is…”) so the same character users meet on the Klaus tab is the one signing every analytical output.

    Improvements

    • Redesigned Speed-tab topology card. A single-sentence verdict at the top — “Everything’s connected” / “A little slow today” / “Can’t reach the internet” — plus animated packet-flow on the WAN hop and Wi-Fi pulses on the LAN hop. ISP and router each report their own health.
    • Getting Started guide is now a tappable, collapsible table of contents — scan the topic you need instead of scrolling a wall of text.

    Fixes

    • Suggested-question chips in Klaus chat occasionally routed to the wrong answer because of an over-broad keyword match (e.g. “ty” inside “security”). Now resolved with word-boundary matching.
  3. Version

    1.0

The first release. Five tabs, one walking heatmap.

    What's new

    • Speed tab: a real download, upload, ping, and jitter test with a clear ISP → Router → Device picture so you can see at a glance where the slowdown is coming from.
    • Wi-Fi Report: every speed test produces a plain-English rating of your connection for streaming, gaming, video calls, home office, and browsing.
    • Survey tab (Pro): walk your home while WiFi Buddy paints a live signal heatmap onto a floor plan — no extra hardware, just your iPhone.
    • Insights report: every completed survey produces an A–F graded coverage report, named dead zones, and a personalized “what to do next” list (mesh vs. extender vs. reposition vs. channel change).
    • Signal tab: a quick check of how good your Wi-Fi feels right now, with one-tap access to Klaus.
    • Devices tab: see every device on your Wi-Fi, automatically named and labeled. Mark devices you trust and get alerted when something new joins.
    • Klaus, your friendly Wi-Fi sidekick: a pixel-art assistant with clear, plain-English answers to the questions people actually ask about home Wi-Fi. Free users get a question to try; Pro unlocks unlimited chat.
    • Floor plan templates: choose Blank, Apartment, or Upstairs for the survey backdrop — with editable room names so the heatmap matches your home.
    • Re-survey reminders so you can spot whether your dead zones moved after a router change, a remodel, or a firmware update.

    Pro & pricing

    • WiFi Buddy Pro: $3.99/month or $34.99/year, with a 3-day free trial on first purchase.
    • Trial-aware paywall copy: “Start 3-Day Free Trial” CTA, charge-date timeline, and a “cancel anytime in Settings” disclosure.
    • Billing-retry grace period: a failed renewal won't yank Pro features mid-session — a slim banner explains the retry window so you can update your payment method without interruption.

    Privacy & platform

    • Privacy by construction: surveys, device lists, and chat history live only on your device. No accounts. No analytics. No servers.
    • Camera feed is used only to track your iPhone's motion as you walk — it's never recorded, screenshotted, or sent anywhere.
    • iOS 17+ universal app for iPhone and iPad, with light/dark/system appearance and a fresh traffic-light Wi-Fi app icon.
